Destiny Media Announces New Cross Platform Video Solution Which Eliminates Transcoding Costs
Vancouver, BC – November 8, 2011 – Destiny Media Technologies, Inc. ((TSXV: DSY) (OTCQX: DSNY) is pleased to announce the next generation of Clipstream® at Booth 81 at the HTML 5 Summit atStreaming Media West in Los Angeles Nov. 8-9, 2011. The product is expected to launch in the first calendar quarter of 2012.
The current generation of Clipstream® is a playerless Java powered technology, where users don't need to install or upgrade player software and audio and video playback is near instant. It doesn't require a streaming server and because it caches, it saves 90% on bandwidth costs for popular content, while providing a higher quality of service because of the better scalability.
This next generation is disruptive technology as it is completely cross platform to all recent devices and operating systems, including those that don't support Java. Publishers can keep video in one single format, eliminating patent and licensing fees and transcoding expenses (costs associated with converting, storing and streaming multiple video formats). According to a 2007 report by Frost and Sullivan, transcoding costs are projected to top $1.6 billion by 2014. According to a 2010 report by In-Stat, this market grew at 72% in 2010 because there is such a lack of standards.
A solution which will reach nearly 100% of site visitors, thereby generating more impressions will mean higher advertising revenues for site owners and a much lower cost of delivery, while providing an experience for consumers that “just works”.
