The Play MPE® Value Proposition
- Cost Reduction: The Play MPE® system dramatically reduces costs for distribution by:
a. Eliminating the costs of materials (CD, envelope, label and other packaging),
b. Eliminating the costs courier and mailing charges,
c. Reducing staff time in managing distribution contact lists, and
d. Reducing staff time in creation of rich media email alerts.
- Security: Play MPE® uses both forms of propriety MPE® security. In this product, our watermarking technology has significant advantages for our clients as it is inaudible and nearly impossible to remove. Our watermark is embedded into a media file in nearly real time. This is essential to our process and is a significant advantage over competing solutions.
Play MPE® offers a "permissions" based system. Record labels can decide who is given export, preview, and download abilities and when those abilities are granted. Play MPE® also provides a great deal of flexibility for the management of their staff providing for alternatives on who has the ability to upload, edit content, and distribute.
- Speed of delivery, timed deliveries, instant access & instant delivery: When a record label wants to send a song to radio there is virtually no lead time with the Play MPE® system. Internet distribution avoids delays with CD manufacture and mailing lead times. Play MPE® uses lossless compression techniques to deliver raw HD original quality music in a fraction of the time of delivering the raw data. Our technology allows download times that exceed any other system currently available for a specified quality. Other systems provide downloads at comparable speeds but have an audible loss of fidelity. Other compression solutions, such as MP3 or WMV lose much of the original fidelity of the music and are not appropriate for on-air broadcast.
Play MPE® enables record labels to coordinate delivery times to their exact specifications. For example, on a large release record labels may wish to give access to their song across the globe at the same precise time. This is impossible with physical delivery.
Play MPE® builds a custom library for each recipient, so a recipient will have instant access to every song made available to them, including old releases. With physical system, it was common for CD's to be misplaced.
- Reporting: The Play MPE® system facilitates increased information flow. Labels have direct access to detailed reporting on how their music is accessed and used by recipients. The reporting features of Play MPE® has resulted in the discontinuation of "add lists" that were previously purchased weekly lists to see what stations had added which songs that week to their rotation.
- Sound & Video Quality: The Play MPE® system transmits High Definition/broadcast audio and video. Lower quality files are not acceptable for on-air broadcast.
- Green initiatives: There is a growing sentiment to be less wasteful, to minimize our global "footprint". With Play MPE®, a song is sent with no physical packaging, and requires no fuel for airplanes, delivery trucks etc. Destiny has partnered with Greendisk and the CD Recycling Center to work with them to reduce impact of CD's and to help the switch to digital distribution. 100,000 pounds of CD's are discarded each month in landfills.
